Ed, please traffic the following

Name of Campaign: Hello_Directory1
Tile Type: Directory Tile
Run Dates: Tues 6/2 - 6/30/2015
Locale: All - en, de, fr, pt, pl, ru, es
URL:
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/hello/start/?utm_source=directory-tiles&utm_medium=tiles&utm_campaign=sc-2015-hello&utm_content=screen-with-faces

Title: Firefox Hello

Creative: Attached

hello-directory-tile-A-all - this is the default tile for all locales. Each locale has it's own rollover tile
Ed - I don't care what placement this gets - maybe #7?
> URL: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/hello/start/?utm_source=directory-tiles&utm_medium=tiles&utm_campaign=sc-2015-hello&utm_content=screen-with-faces

Please note, this URL is intended to be accessed directly through the product only (i.e. buttons directly in the Hello panel), rather than from external sources.

Can I suggest pointing people https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/hello/ instead, as this page features a "Try Firefox Hello" button, which triggers opening the Hello panel via a special API.

The key reason is that the locale needs to be populated via the setting in Firefox, rather than the user's accept language header. This will also cater better for people who have already tried Hello.

CC'ing Cory Price.
Fabio - are you ok with the URL for this changing?
Flags: needinfo?(frios)
Sounds like the url should be..

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/hello/?utm_source=directory-tiles&utm_medium=tiles&utm_campaign=sc-2015-hello&utm_content=screen-with-faces

But we can only have one url per site, and we already have "www.mozilla.org" for the manifesto.

Is this url to hello.firefox.com okay?

https://hello.firefox.com/?utm_source=directory-tiles&utm_medium=tiles&utm_campaign=sc-2015-hello&utm_content=screen-with-faces

It redirects to the same place as above.
Hey Ed,

The url has google analytics appended to it so that the Fennec team can track performance.

Why can we not have two mozilla.org urls?

The google analytics parameters are passed to the final destination. You can check by clicking on

https://hello.firefox.com/?utm_source=directory-tiles&utm_medium=tiles&utm_campaign=sc-2015-hello&utm_content=screen-with-faces

There's an open bug about how new tab page combines multiple urls from the same site into a single tile.
Flags: needinfo?(edilee)
I would think using https://hello.firefox.com/ as a redirect URL would be a good idea if there's a domain restriction.

Alex, can you elaborate on the language/locale setting. If I've downloaded the DE (german) Firefox browser, will the tour not launch in German?: https://www.mozilla.org/de/firefox/hello/start/

As Alex mentioned above, let's not direct link to hello/start. The product page houses all of the logic necessary to drop the Hello panel, and start the user on the FTU tour. Recommendation is to send users to the Hello product page.

Hey there. If I understand correctly, WE CANNOT have two tiles that point to the mozilla.org domain. If that's the case, then happy to go with with https://hello.firefox.com/ which redirects to the product page.

If the above is not a limitation, we should absolutely point to the tour: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/hello/start/. I understand that was not the original purpose, but it does two valuable things for us:

1. provides additional tracking detail so that we can associate Hello product interactions, including creating a room and starting a call, all the way back to the source and messaging.

2. takes the user straight into the product by eliminating one step. Prompts within the FTE tour provide the necessary context for Firefox users.

Ed, can you confirm I understood the limitation correctly?
As already mentioned, linking directly to /firefox/hello/start is not something we advise. There are numerous technical reasons for this that I won't go into here to save a lengthy explanation, but it could lead to an unexpected experience for some users.
Alex, I would like to understand the limitations as we are using /firefox/hello/start in other owned media channels such as email. I'll move this conversation to email so we don't complicate this bug.

When we created the FTE we specifically funnelled all external media sources to the /firefox/hello/ product page for this reason. We should not be linking directly to it from any external media.
