User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0 Build ID: 20150525141253 Steps to reproduce: Set up a new account at a service provider that uses German directory names, such as http://gmx.de Actual results: Thunderbird uses the "Trash", "Sent" and "Drafts" directories, creating them on the server, if necessary. Expected results: The equivalent "Gelöscht" (-> "Trash"), "Gesendet" (-> "Sent") and "Entwürfe" (-> "Drafts") directories should be detected and correctly mapped instead.

This is the default folder subscription setup after setting up the mail account in Thunderbird.

bug 480393 or bug bug 491424?
Those seem to be related, but this issue is not just about the trash directory.

Good Lord, you dig up ancient bugs. I lot has changed in IMAP folder naming over the last four years. Ultimately it depends on which flags the IMAP server attaches to the folders.
Looks like bug 543227, but folders like (German) "Spamverdacht" might still not be mapped properly.
