For pages where authentication is done via the "old school", pop up a dialog
method, rather than with forms and cookies, there should be an option to
automatically log in if the name/password pair is stored with the password
manager.

No, this is not related to bug 108166.  That bug has to do with the dialog you 
get if there is more than one username stored for the site.  This bug has to do 
with the dialog that appears when the site does http authentication.  At least 
that's my understanding of what the reporter is saying.

authentication, regardless of wether or not I have multiple user names for
that site.

Regarding comment 6 , probably the url is outdated, because it is not the same
as what the reporter is asking for.

As it stands now, mozilla would prefill the http authentication popup, but you
still have to click ok to enter. What the reporter is asking for is an option
to silently login.

I propose that a checkbox "do not ask me again" be added below the current
checkbox. If both are checked, silently login in the future.

Regarding concerns that someone may accidently opt for silent login, and then
wishes to login using an alternate password - well, they can view saved
passwords and delete. That would disable silent login.

If my employer were to ever switch to mozilla, they would _pay_ to have this
fixed. With 3 authentication prompts each time you visit an intranet site,
ability to silently login (present in IE) is invaluable.

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. Would this involve the complete login to the account or merely filling in the user ID and password?  If the former, I see a problem.  

I already have an account with a user ID and password.  I want to setup a second account with a new user ID and a new password.  How would I prevent the automatic login to the older account so that I can setup the newer account?

A logout command would be useful, both with and without automatic logins.
