User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0 Build ID: 20150826023504 Steps to reproduce: I don't know how to reproduce it. It has happened again and again over time. Kind of like a memory leak that happens over time. It could happen when I have changed computers via a KVM but just switching for a time and coming back does not say it will happen. Actual results: The screen goes wacky. Mostly losing everything and just being blank. At times when you mouse over it things will reappear and disappear. the Minimize, Maximize and X at the top right are mostly what shows back up by mouse over. The screen contents are blank. Sometimes they are functional and sometimes they are not. sometimes you can exit the browser from the task bar and sometimes you have to kill it in task manager. When you restart it it is fine. If you start another firefox window up while this happening the new window will not function either. AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series (Card not onboard). Windows 10 8Gig Memory Quad Core AMD A8-5500 APU Typically Outlook 2007 and possibly (Media Player, Google Music Player or Amazon Music) and then background processes MyPhone Explorer, Brother Control Center 4, Memeo Backup, Call Clerk and Mighty text are running Expected results: The Web page should have continued to display as it was. The Window should respond normally. I am not trying to display a new page just look at what was already in the browser and had originally displayed correctly. Other windows not related to firefox continue to work correctly with no issues.

Hey Loic, since the originator hadn't followed up yet and I've had the same bug show up (in Win 7 Pro), here's some info you may be interested in: Graphics Adapter Description Intel(R) HD Graphics Adapter Drivers igdumd64 igd10umd64 igdumdx32 igd10umd32 Adapter RAM Unknown Asynchronous Pan/Zoom none Device ID 0x0046 Direct2D Enabled true DirectWrite Enabled true (6.2.9200.17461) Driver Date 1-10-2012 Driver Version 8.15.10.2622 GPU #2 Active false GPU Accelerated Windows 1/1 Direct3D 11 (OMTC) Subsys ID 215a17aa Supports Hardware H264 Decoding true Vendor ID 0x8086 WebGL Renderer Google Inc. -- ANGLE (Intel(R) HD Graphics Direct3D9Ex vs_3_0 ps_3_0) windowLayerManagerRemote true AzureCanvasBackend direct2d 1.1 AzureContentBackend direct2d 1.1 AzureFallbackCanvasBackend cairo AzureSkiaAccelerated 0

The symptoms described more or less line up with what has been noted to occur on out of memory situations. Once memory is constrained, allocation of surfaces in the backend will start to fail, and so rendering of things in general will fail. That would be my initial guess of what is going on. I wonder if there is some sort of memory leak occurring here? If so, it would probably show up in other bug reports as well.

Sorry I had not gotten back. It does continue to happen. My drivers are up to date (at least video). Java is up to date. I don't know if it has to do with certain web pages that continue to process in the back ground or it is just any web page. It is only the firefox screen that is messed up. All other applications continue to work.

The Disable HWA workaround has hidden the issue for about a day. My drivers are up to date, based on this reference: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds018868 On the memory topic, thinking it may have been that also I had tried the old reboot approach & then restarted Firefox (41.0.1 CCK - IBM) but the symptom was still there. Could still be a video memory handling bug however. This may not be helpful, but last time I was on the debug side of a similar looking issue it was somewhere near the canvas rendering part of java code. Then & now, moving the mouse around caused at least some of the video to render around the mouse.

I had reinstalled the Video drivers hoping that might do something. But it happened again just now. I was sitting on Amazons main page (www.amazon.com). Only 1 tab. No other instances of firefox were running. It still only impacts firefox other applications work fine while the condition is happening. Closing firefox and restarting it corrects the issue. The screen had gone to sleep which may be connected. When I moved the mouse around bringing the screen back firefox was wacky.

Comment 10 sounds a lot like a driver reset issue. Jeff, what do you think?
