User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0 Build ID: 20150918100231 Steps to reproduce: Sending a message through a POP3 server fails when server reports wrong password. When I cancel this request the message is put into sent folder for IMAP. Actual results: The not sent message is put in sent folder and the message closes as it have been sent. Expected results: The message should remain in draft and to still be open to be editable.

Can you find the duplicate? (if there is one)

Are both dup candidates given the lack of info in this ticket. However they both include a similar result. Patrik Nilsson, if either of these ring a bell let us know.

Bug 365250 and bug 780124 are very similar to this. The difference is that you cancel the sending dialog where the password is reported to be wrong.

Still, your bug might add more to the narrative. Each seem to reflect that something is triggering TB to move the message to the sent folder even though an error has occurred that should stop the process.
When it happens, or happened (don't know if its a continuous error) did the person you tried to send it to get a response? It would be odd if they did, but stranger things have happened.

Thunderbird behaves as everything is alright. It seems that Thunderbird always is putting its letters into sent, regardless of how the operation before reported success or failure.
Seems only to be when using IMAP, not pop/smpt.
