Bug 1175655 is adamant we should be using 40 character revisions whenever it matters to uniquely specify code, on the basis that 12 characters approaching spoof-ability. Bug 1217223 fixed up a bit of it, but there's more we should do:

mainly in buildapi. We need to be carefull that retriggering still works when we change this.
