User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/46.0.2490.80 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: OS: Ubuntu 12.04 Basically, I've been noticing bad "redraw" issues for a couple of weeks at least. Either in changing tabs, where the tab is incorrectly highlighted/mismatches the actual page I'm viewing, or other things. Also I have many issues on Google websites; for example, here is a screenshot of me clicking "create" in Google Calendar, which should take me to a page / overlay a new modal that has Event Details. Actual results: The "event details" overlay is drawn on top of / in the middle of the main calendar screen. If I 'mouse around', the screen draws correctly where I move my mouse. If I pick up the main Firefox window with my mouse, the entire screen gets (re)drawn correctly. Expected results: I should be taken to a visually pleasing area to enter even details :) Here is the "Graphics" section of about:support: Adapter Description NVIDIA Corporation -- GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2 Asynchronous Pan/Zoom none Device ID GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2 Driver Version 4.4.0 NVIDIA 340.93 GPU Accelerated Windows 0/1 Basic (OMTC) Supports Hardware H264 Decoding false Vendor ID NVIDIA Corporation WebGL Renderer NVIDIA Corporation -- GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2 windowLayerManagerRemote true AzureCanvasBackend cairo AzureContentBackend cairo AzureFallbackCanvasBackend none AzureSkiaAccelerated 0
Just wanted to add that this doesn't *always* happen, but happens randomly. Same issue with the Gmail screen of going from "enter email address" to "enter password" - the screen doesn't get properly redrawn at the 'enter password' stage. Seems rather random, reproducable about 1/4 times I try. Offering additional uploads would be helpful in this bugzilla!!

Thanks. I also wanted to add that I have similar issues using Thunderbird - I'll click to a message, think it hasn't loaded, but find that when I move my mouse over the message pane, parts of it appear as I mouse over areas. Hope that helps, not sure if I should file a Thunderbird bug as well? Might just be my machine... but those are the only two programs exhibiting that behaviour.

This will likely be the same issue, so a separate bug for Thunderbird is not necessary. In Firefox, if go to about:config, set layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled to false and restart your browser, does that stop this problem from happening?
Updating the summary so it's less vague and more searchable. @jmalinsky, please try to provide a more descriptive summary with your next bug report. That business out of the way, in addition to turning off OMTC as Markus suggested on comment 4, could you please let us know if this started in Firefox 41 or did you notice it in an earlier Firefox version?

Summary: Bad Redraws → Random and intermittent redraw issues when changing tabs or navigating Google websites
Hi, sorry about the vague summary, I'll do better next time. re: comment 4, it seemed to make a big difference in terms of frequency, being that it seemed to take longer between bad redraws. In fact I thought it had fixed the issue, but I wound up replicating it again. FWIW, the trigger I am currently using is going to Google Calendar, choosing the red "Create" button on the left. Sometimes this will cause the problem. If not, I click "Discard" - that might trigger the problem. Repeat/rinse until issue arrives.... Thanks, let me know if I can be of any more help!
(In reply to jmalinsky from comment #6) > Thanks, let me know if I can be of any more help! Could you try testing an older version of Firefox to see where this problem first began? We store our old builds on https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/.
Hi folks, I'm going to close this after a while. I started to notice this issue with some non-moz software, which eventually led me to this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/692996/screen-not-refreshing-after-nvidia-driver-install-on-ubuntu-12-04 Thanks for your patience!
