Steps to reproduce:

1. Open about:preferences#security
2. Disable "Remember passwords for sites"
3. Open https://news.ycombinator.com/login
4. Right-click on a field


Actual results:

Firefox shows "Fill Login" and "Fill Password" in the context menu for the form fields.


Expected results:

Those options should be hidden, since I've disabled the login manager and haven't set any exception.

Note: I also use Lastpass, which prompted me to disable the native Firefox feature completely when I first installed it.

Note that you can still have old saved logins in the password manager while the "Remember logins for sites" option is unchecked.

Per discussion with PM triage, the current current checkbox is only about remembering/capture, and not an option to globally disable PM.

Emma, Paul had already said that. My main point was that I have no saved passwords, which makes that context menu option pointless. It should only appear if I did have logins saved.

Lol, they also marked my post as advocacy (hiding it), and deleted yours (but I got it in email, so I know what you wrote).
Holy, that censorship. At least they're swift to hide any signs of indignation :)

I'm using FF since 2006 and I loved it for it's flexibility and speed. FF in 2017 is not standing up to the competition as well as it used to:
- multiple websites seem to bug out in FF, where they work perfectly in chrome.
- built-in developer tools in Chrome are better in my opinion.
- Mozilla killing great addons with their new policy?
- as a html5 game developer, this bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=737852 is 5 years old and it really messes up text position in html5 canvas games. Had a whole lot of people asking for a fix, even from the developer of popular createjs library himself. I don't recall any official reaction in that thread.

Right now I'm considering alternatives, and this incident only pushes me forward.
I'll keep FF for the same reason why I keep IE\Edge though: compatibility testing. But I hope soon this will be a history and all browsers will use same rendering engine.
