User Story

As a desktop client user, I want to be taken through a slideshow FTU so that I understand what Hello is about

Acceptance criteria:
- When the user presses "See how it works" on the FTU panel, render a slideshow over the active tab
- The slideshow can be dismissed with the "Skip" option
- The user can select previous or next slides
- When the user presses "Tour" from the gear menu, render the FTU slideshow over the active tab
      No description provided.

Per the UX (http://people.mozilla.org/~sfranks/Hello/Firefox%20Hello%20MVP%20FTU.png) we render a slideshow over the currently opened tab (could be a non mozilla property). Are we able to do this technically or should we instead consider opening the slides on a new tab (non preferred)?

Is there any update on comment 1 here? NI RT - when will we call it one way or another on this?

Here's the plan:

- We're going to put the FTU into the Hello product itself as an overlay
- The Marketing team should give us the assets and we'll integrate them into the product
- The assets to be images and text, one image and one text for each slide (you could attach them here, or upload them somewhere and put a link on this ticket)
- We'll put the FTU through the Hello localization process
- To get through the localization process we'll want the assets by February 8
- If you have any rough drafts early that would be helpful, as we can develop the overlay using that material and get the layout figured out

Thank you for this Ian.

We would also like to initiate a very similar slideshow for guests who are viewing the link clicker page to connect. The structure of the slideshow will be the same, but the content in each slide will be different. Can you confirm that the requirements with respect to assets and timeline are the same for this experience?

Thank you!

Cory: yes, the slideshow for both sides of the experience can/should be formatted the same, and would go through the same localization process. (Another good reason to put it all in the product, as the guest version definitely has to be in the product.)

A few open questions:

- what are the dimensions of the slideshows?
- what is the size limit of the slideshows?
- what is the file type needed for the graphics?

Additional needs:

- tracking how many people launch the slideshow (link clicker and link creator separately)
- tracking how many people complete the slideshow (link clicker and link creator separately)
- tracking the source that generated the slideshow view (the product page button drops the Hello hanger; can we associate the completion of a slideshow view back to coming from say... product page or snippet?

This is probably more a question for Sevaan. However, I would expect us to be able to scale them to some extent for different sized windows.

svg files are probably best if we can get them, as that'll keep the size down.

Matt Ternoway is creating the slide show.

From what I understand we're trusting Matt to make the right decision regarding size and placement.

Correct, we will work on the dimensions. Sounds like no concern on your end. Thanks.

Updated US to reflected the fact that the slides live in product and not on the web.

Removed the last user story point, after talking to habber, as she said this is no longer desired:

"- On the last slide, the user can select a button to start create a Hello room, the slides close and a room is created with the current tab, the user is joined to that room."

Basic functionality should be working on this feature branch, with plenty of cleanup to do:

There is also a WIP pull request which shows the set of changes in progress:

https://github.com/mozilla/loop/pull/17
The slideshow is now complete, so I'm going to mark this as fixed. The remaining follow-ups will be tracked individually.
