Steps to reproduce:

All I have to do is use the latest version

Actual results:

I tried the latest beta version
Nothing helped
Only thing that help was reverting to an older version

Expected results:

It should have worked
OS: Unspecified → Windows 10

1. Please start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled
- win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10
Then still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode
- http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode
Does problem go away?

2. The "latest version" 38.4.0 has been out for many weeks. How is it that you only now updated? And how long have you been running windows 10 without Thunderbird problems?

I believe there was a recent Windows 10 update that contributed to the problem.
It was working fine midweek last week
