Steps to reproduce:

Gentoo system with ATI's fglrx driver (Using Radeon HD 7850).
Build firefox-43.0.x without the egl flag. Also tried compiling --with-gl-provider=GLX
Run firefox



Actual results:

The browser's window content is blank.
A console message is displayed:
Can't find symbol 'EGLImageTargetRenderbufferStorageOES' 
Right clicking the blank screen sometimes reveals the content.
Disabling hardware acceleration in advanced preferences resolves the problem.


Expected results:

Should work normally even with hardware acceleration enabled.
I understand fglrx driver doesn't support EGL interface, but in the previous versions (maybe before 42?) it would work without it.

Hello! I have tried to reproduce the issue using firefox 96.0a1(2021-11-26) on Ubuntu 20, unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the issue with the STR provided in the description.

Avnerus can you still reproduce the issue on your end? If yes could you please update the steps and hardware if they need to be updated.

I am sorry but I don't have that system anymore... It has been 6 years and that Radeon died.
It seems likely that this issue has been fixed along the way.
