i want to file this separately from bug 124258, since some of this might not actually be the cause of the content-not-fitting issue --and it makes it easier for me at least to track. ;) however, do let me know if any of these should be broken out into separate bug reports! [if i don't specify a particular widget, assume that the following apply to all/most items in the panel.] a. checkbox text. one of the obvious issues is that text associated with checkboxes should fit on as few lines as possible. will attach a screenshot soon. here are the panels affected in this manner: * Appearance top-level panel * Colors panel * Navigator top-level panel: not sure if current display is fine, however * Smart Browsing panel, "enable internet keywords" checkbox * Tabbed Browsing panel * Composer top-level panel, "maintain table layout..." checkbox * Mail & Newsgroups top-level panel * Message Display panel * Message Composition panel, "check spelling before sending" * Addressing panel * Cookies panel * Passwords panel * SSL panel * Advanced top-level panel * Debug top-level panel * Debug > Events panel * Debug > Networking panel b. radiobutton text. similar to (a), but for text associated with radiobuttons. * Colors panel, "use my colors, ignoring..." radiobutton * Navigator top-level panel * Composer top-level panel * Composer > New Page Settings panel * Message Display panel * Send Format panel, "ask me what to do..." radiobutton * Cookies panel * Images panel * Master Passwords panel * Certificates panel * Validation panel, "do not use OSCP..." radiobutton * Cache panel * Mouse Wheel panel * Offline & Diskspace panel c. a less obvious issue is that in some cases there's too little vertical space btwn buttons, as seen in * Languages panel: btwn "move up" and "move down", as well as "add" and "remove" * Helper Applications panel: btwn the "new type", "edit" and "remove" buttons

Gail, Jen, and Marlon-please come up with a larger default size for the prefs dialog box that will fix this and other similar bugs/issues. Not approving yet. If we get the prefs d.b. bigger, it should fix this bug.

please check these panels now that 124258 has been fixed. my bet is that 90% of the problem has gone away.

issues listed under (a) and (b) look resolved, yay! (c) button spacing is still an issue. d. another observation: the menulist bubble [er, header] for dpi in the Font panel isn't wide enough to display its text.

approving. Need to get prefs fixed.
pushing to 1.0.1. I imagine some of the remaining issues will be resolved when Ben increases the default size of the prefs panels.
