It currently does not seem to use the ApproxPersistChooser, i.e. 0 day approx. It should be allowed to set the number of days, any number of days. I don't know whether the non-gui need something like that.

Right it does not use that. I think it's a good default, because the use case is to try a specific build (though it makes sense to try a specific build in some range too). Adding a number of builds around the selected build to relax the selection seems good. It may be complex for users, but useful - and I suppose it might help on non-gui too. Another option (or a combination) may be to be able to select a build to test from a list showing the already downloaded builds.
