1252492 - [cak] Add Guatemala Digital as new search provider for cak Fennec localization

We ask you (the community) to answer a few questions:
* What is the use-case we're satisfying by adding this provider?
* How is this specific provider compared to other competitors, and how does it benefits Firefox users?
* Will this be specific for both Firefox desktop and Firefox for Android, or only one and not the other? If not, why it doesn't?

For adding a new searchplugin we need you to get the provider's authorization and Mozilla's approval. Someone from your l10n team needs to get in touch with the provider to understand if they're interested in shipping with Firefox, and get some basic information to fill this document (name of someone from the provider who can give Mozilla such authorization, address)

Then we complete this document and get in touch with Mozilla's BD department to get feedback and approval. The selected provider will also need to provide icon assets (for desktop 16px and 32px, but it would be good to have icons up to 128px or 256px) and additional search parameters if needed.

One additional note. For Android we need a very specific icon: 96px, rounder corners (6px radius), colored background (no transparent, no white, at least light gray). But we can define these details once we're sure the partner is interested.

Paginas Amarillas
It’s the search for commercial and individual information. It provides phone information, location and commercial links (hotels, restaurants, businesses,…)

Provides information at Latino American level, its directory continues growing because they motivate businesses to subscribe to them.  Also present information by segments according to the place where one wants to look for information, for example economic activities in touristic places. It is a good provider of information.
At the same time, every year publishes volumes in which shows all businesses subscribed to the provider, generally provides one sample to all the people and businesses that they have on a telephone line. Having it at hand makes it transactions easy among fire fox users and the commercial and government entities.
The upgrading is very important and this provider does it regularly.
It is specific to desktop Firefox and Firefox for Android

Guatemala Digital
It is the online shopping service, provides product information and are classified by categories or classes.
It is a product provider updates in real time. And it provides different types of product warranties you have in your catalog. Delivery of all products nationwide at no cost.
It is specific to Firefox desktop and not for Firefox for Android. It is not specific to Firefox Android by lack of use of the service via mobile.

Hi Juan,  I don't believe Paginas Amarillas is appropriate for inclusion.  We have looked at certain services that need two inputs (what+where) in order to conduct searches.  We believe it is not optimal to utilize tools that don't have a single-input mechanism.

I also notice that they don't support OpenSearch either.  Can we remove this one from consideration at this point and revisit if they alter their business model to include OpenSearch and unified search boxes later?

It appears from the other bug 1178926 that the provider list is already fairly full.

Updating bug subject. I didn't check Pagina Amarillas, and I agree it's not a good choice given that we can only search using one parameter.

What we need at this point is:
* The authorization from the provider
* Icons. For Fennec it has to a 96px icon, with colored background and rounded corners. It would be nice to have on file all size from 16px to 256px though.
* Search URL. I assume http://guatemaladigital.com/Default.aspx?Busqueda={searchTerms}&Categoria=All would work, but we'll need confirmation.

We need at least 96px icons for mobile. If we manage to get higher resolutions (e.g. up to 256px), even better.
