Steps to reproduce:

1. Set your Flash plugin to 'Never activate' if you have it installed.
2. Play this video https://weather.com/news/trending/video/wave-washes-woman-away-in-wedding-dress
3. Video will use an HTML5 player.  Right clicking on the video will show a message indicating it's using an HTML5 player.


Actual results:

Depends:
1. 64 bit Fx the video doesn't auto play.
2. 32 bit Fx the video does auto play.


Expected results:

Both 32 bit and 64 bit Fx should play the video the same way, either auto play or no auto play.

Windows 7 here. Can confirm when repeating the steps 32 bit firefox auto plays, while 64 bit does not autoplay.

Tried the video on MS Edge and it auto played.  I believe that on a 64 bit processor, such as I have, Edge runs in 64 bit mode.

First off it is still unconfirmed. Unless you are working on it no one from Mozilla has chimed in.  I've seen too many bug reports that disappear in a black hole sometimes reappearing years later.

No, but seeing this bug report in the same state two years from now would be.  All I am asking that if the problem is confirmed, as it now is, the folks responsible for the component at least comment on it one way or another.  Is that too much to ask?  If it's too trivial to work on then say so.  Nuff said.

Uh are you sure its using HTML5 and not flash for you, because it definitely doesn't auto play in my 64 bit nightly if i disable flash.

Gary: Do you have tracking protection enabled or are you browsing in Private Browsing mode? If I have Tracking Protection enabled https://weather.com/storms/winter/video/clearing-10-inches-of-snow-off-driveway-in-seconds does not play, but if I disabled it, the page works fine.

Im not Gary, but i can reproduce the bug. And my Tracking Protection is disabled. And just tried in safe mode and it still doesn't auto play in FF4bit with flash disabled. Uh here is my about:support

I can't reproduce this issue on Nightly 58.0a1 (2017-10-30) (64-bit) on OSX.
