1259950 - Caret disappears in <input> and <textarea> if I accidentally select empty string at the beginning/end

STR:
0. Copy string "1234" to clipboard
1. Open attached "testcase 1"

(A)
2. Click in the first line, press Ctrl+End to move caret to the end   (to get "asdf\nzxcv[caret]")
3. Press Ctrl+Shift+Up, then Ctrl+Shift+Down

(B)
2. Click in the end of the second line to move caret to the end   (to get "asdf\nzxcv[caret]")
3. Press Ctrl+Shift+End

(C)
2. Click in the second line, press Ctrl+Home to move caret to the start  (to get "[caret]asdf\nzxcv")
3. Press Ctrl+Shift+Right, then Ctrl+Shift+Left

(D)
2. Click in the beginning of the first line to move caret to the start  (to get "[caret]asdf\nzxcv")
3. Press  Ctrl+Shift+Home

4. Press Ctrl+C
5. Click in the beginning of the first line to move caret to the start
6. Press Ctrl+V


Actual Result:
 In Step 3 caret disappears, because "" at the beginning/end is selected.
 In Step 6 nothing happens

Expected Result:
 In Step 3 caret shouldn't disappear = Empty string shouldn't be selected.
 In Step 4 clipboard should stay untouched
 In Step 6 "1234" should be pasted, so text in <textarea> should be "1234[caret]asdf\nzxcv"

I discovered that everybody judges how easy STR are on the amount of text. Here's simplified text

1. Type something in <textarea>
2. _Click_ before the 1st letter to move caret there
3. Press Ctrl+Shift+Home

Actual Result:   caret disappears, because empty string is selected.
Expected Result: caret shouldn't disappear = Empty string shouldn't be selected.
