1270497 - When creating a new RSS account, Seamonkey stores it in a new Thunderbird profile folder

Steps to reproduce:

1. create a new RSS account in Mail;
2. add a new RSS feed or import a RSS feed list.


Actual results:

Seamonkey stores the RSS folder hierarchy and files in a Thunderbird profile folder.


Expected results:

If the Thunderbird profile already exists, Seamonkey adds a brand new one and stores the RSS files there.

If the Thunderbird profile doesn't exist, Seamonkey creates a brand new one, "Thunderbird" parent folder included.

I've originally imported the whole mail and RSS files from Thunderbird. When I deleted the original "Thunderbird" profile, the RSS account was gone as well.

Suspect that has something to do with it.

You're right.

The former points to the "Seamonkey" profile folder, while the latter to the "Thunderbird" profile folder.

Nevertheless, it seems a bug, because both should point to "Seamonkey" folder, after importation.

In addition to this, this behavior may cause data loss for people who are in the habit to cleaning their AppData folder from orphan folders of uninstalled software without having done a previous backup of the new one.

However, if I change the target folder in Seamonkey, the new path is ignored and the RSS feeds are still stored in the original Thunderbird profile folder that was created during data importation.

I've to correct my previous comment.

Seamonkey respect the path set in that setting. I had reinstalled Thunderbird in order to do some more tests and it's TB to create the second profile folder, now. It's likely a bug in the import routine that is of course shared from both software.
