We're decommissioning git.mo; all relevant blockers have been addressed. It's time to shut down the server, but leave it in a state that we can easily turn it back on if unexpected problems occur. After a month or so, we can tear down the servers.
What "hard hat" or redirection or ??? should be left?

When we decom'd cvs & bzr, we installed a redirect somewhere.
Do you mean for the web UI, https://git.mozilla.org/ ?
I've created https://wiki.mozilla.org/EngineeringProductivity/git.mozilla.org; I'll file a separate WebOps bug for the redirect.

The redirect is live; kendall, can you shut down git on the server but leave it in such a state that we can easily turn it back on if needed sometime in the next month?
