If I do a "Open File..." or want to attach a file to an email, I cannot switch
to the parent directory any more, i.e. the button '..' is gone.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start writing an email
2.Click on 'Attach'
3.Try to change into the parent directory

Actual Results:  There is no button to change into the parent directory

Expected Results:  Have a button to switch to parent directory

The button was deliberately removed, see bug 121354.
The XP Filepicker is being re-designed in bug 125693, and will have the feature
you miss. Resolving as dup.
