Details

A lot of spam bots still fill out every field in a given form and do not parse CSS.

Having an input field with an enticing name that is hidden through CSS "display:none" has helped many websites cut down on the number of spam user registrations.

If the honeypot field is filled, the back-end should show that the registration was unsuccessful due to possible spam.

This is not foolproof but does reduce the number of spam users registered.
