The search bar should have the "goto" message button and currently can be
achieved by the clear button. Advanced search is NOT working.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. enter some text into the search bar for messages
2. hilite a message in the subject listbox
3. click clear button in search bar

Actual Results: Last selected message remained hi-lighted, that is, it has the
effect of goto message. Just that the search string was cleared.

Expected Results:
1. worked as expected, but the "clear" button can be renamed.
2. The advanced search was NOT working.

under ALL circumstnaces, the currently selected message should never ever lose
focus after the search string was cleared (which is the current behavious, so
protect it with your life (-_-).

Rename the "clear" button to "goto" is just fine. Usersc can always clear the
search string by deleting with backspace.
I like it as is.

Ever confirmed: true
it surely can be renamed. There are not many smart users out there.
The "Clear" button should not be re-labeled to reflect what the user may or may
not have done before clicking the button. The "Go To" happens at step 2 and has
nothing to do with the "Clear" button whatsoever. What do you mean by "Advanced
search is NOT working."?
oh, that's before the RCs ... long time ago. But I still believe that the
"Clear" button could be renamed "Go To".

After pressing the "go to" butotn, the search string will stay in the textbox,
but the actual search string m.string memory was cleared, thus resetting the
filter. this enabled the user to know what his typed last.

If user input anything (textbox.interactivechagne()) into the textbox.value
again, m.string will be set to textbox.value, then the filter be applied to
messages.

Easy and intuitive. You may even deploy the textbox class in the browser where
users enter URL here. very neat. That would be a ncie-to-have!
I vote for wontfix.
the search toolbar is working fine now (I wasn't aware of its exitence back in
mozilla 1.0) please ignore this bug request.
marking as wontfix.
