Can you swap to a different driver than Nouveau and test?

Hi. Sure. I'll let you know meanwhile later. Btw, when I start Firefox in safe mode it doesn't crash (at least for ~12 hours or so, it worked smoothly)
Safe mode disables hardware acceleration, it's probably where it's crashing. You can disable HWA in the settings: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-disable-hardware-acceleration
Switched to Nvidia drivers. So far so good, no crashes, I am testing though.
Great! Can you file a bug report against the Nouveau driver, please. https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/Bugs/ Milan, is it something Mozilla may fix?

Summary: Firefox 50 crashes randomly on Ubuntu 16.0.4 → Firefox 50 crashes randomly on Ubuntu 16.0.4 (Nouveau driver)
Right, this is really the same as bug 816451 (from four years ago), and some possible driver fixes landed with https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81680 (about two years ago.) As you point out, we're still seeing crashes with later drivers (https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/76b35a22-6923-4030-967c-001262161123 has Mesa 11.2), so it doesn't look like it's fixed. We could block the old drivers once we have a version that works, but we don't really want to block everybody. Part of the reason we still haven't enabled Linux acceleration by default.
