We just need to save the pref name(s) in each storage type and have some method of displaying messages.

Filter on Brobdingnagian.

We should follow this pattern for each storage type:

if storagetype preffed off
  Find out exactly how it is preffed off (this could be multiple prefs or private browsing mode).
  Give instructions to the user explaining how it can be preffed on.
