I can't reproduce it on Win 7 with FF50, the typewriter sounds are correct for me and can be heard after each typing.

Oddly, I don't get any sound at all. Does this use Flash?

I don't know how to reproduce this issue.

I am able to replicate this with Firefox 54.0 on OSX with notifications (like Slack). Tab is muted, I have someone send me a message and I can hear it through my speakers even though the mute tab icon is showing. I have restarted Firefox, unmuted and muted and the same issue happens. This is requiring me to close pinned tabs during meetings where I don't want an audio distraction.

This jsfiddle, (which causes different undesirable behaviour under Chrome), seems to be able to reliably reproduce this for me (Arch Linux, 5.0.10, Firefox 67.0.1).
It seems like there is some sort of race condition between when an audio source begins playing, and when Firefox can kill the sound.
Several others have also reported it playing sound under a muted tab (reddit).
It seems to at least also reliably happen under Ubuntu 18+, under Firefox 67.0.1. It does not seem to effect Windows users, or at least not in a noticeable way.
I'm able to reproduce the issue with firefox 73.0.1 on Ubuntu.
- I go to typingclub.com
- I press CTRL + M to mute
- During lessons some sounds are heard (I guess first sounds of each lesson)
It is even easier to notice on
https://lichess.org/training page. Even if tab is muted, the first move sound is always heard.

I have reproduced it as well.
Go here:
https://www.arkadium.com/games/2048-game/
Mute the tab
Start the game
You hear sound for < 1 second, each and every time you start a new game, even though the tab is muted.
Even if I go to another page in the muted tab, I hear sound on the new tab for < 1 second.

This sounds like bug1346880, which we already fixed.
