1328193 - nothing loads after opening external link

Steps to reproduce:

1. Use the nightly with ublock origin & self destructing cookies.
2. Open a link from another app without firefox already being open




Actual results:

The orange loading bar will move a small amount before stalling near the beginning and never progressing from there. The page does not load or show any signs of loading. Work around for this has been to open link, close tab, & reopen link again.


Expected results:

Link should have opened in Firefox and loaded in a normal amount of time.

Which version of Firefox and which device are you using? Using any custom ROMs?

I'm using the current version of nightly on my lg g5, running the current version of Android provided on the lg g5. I'm not using any custom ROMs

I have the same thing happening quite consistently.  It seems like opening external links fails if Firefox was not previously running.  At least that's my impression.

Force Stop FFox for Android
Change your settings in the Facebook for Android app to open links externally.
Click on a link in the Facebook app which then opens Firefox and tries to load the link.
Address bar shows the url for a few moments and then says about:blank and stops loading.

Go back into Facebook for Android app and click on the link once more.
Firefox opens the web page successfully.

I was just waiting for someone else to mention it but it's been habit for me to click on a link, Firefox opens about:blank, I go back into the original app and click on the link once more.

Perhaps it's timing out depending on if you have a bunch of addons installed which need to load up first- I don't know.

Hello, I can't reproduce either on the latest Nightly 60. I've only observed a slow load and seemed like it would freeze, but it finally loaded the page without other issues.
Could you install the latest Nightly build and check if the issue is still reproducing on your device?
