Steps to reproduce:

Show the Today Pane -- missing tasks that will be due in 5 days from now.

Actual results:

It does not show pending tasks a specified No. of days ahead of their due date

Expected results:

Feature Request: I'd appreciate if I could specify the No. of days pending tasks should be displayed in the Today Pane before they are due.

What I mean: I specify "Show all tasks overdue and due within <No> of days" with "<No>" equals to 5. In Today Pane all overdue tasks and all those that will be due within the forthcoming 5 days are shown.

Looks like of dupe of bug 543377, which was duped itself to bug 415548.
Component: General → Lightning Only
Thanks for pointing out. Reading the subject of bug 543377, yes. However, reading through 415548, only the comments by mitch on 2010-03-31 13:42:17 PDT and nemo on 2011-11-02 11:07:50 PDT (latest entry) refer to my feature request directly.

Thus, if I may ask, what is the status of my feature request? Checking today with Lightning, I cannot find an option where to specify the some form of how many days in advance, a pending task should be displayed in the <b>Today Pane</b>.

Thanks
I think that currently the only thing that can help you a little, though it's quite different from your request, is displaying the column "Due in" or "Due" in the task section of the today pane (click on the little icon on the right side of the "title" header and select "Due in" or "Due"). It shows the days before the due date or the due date, only for tasks that have a due date. You can sort the tasks based on these fields by clicking on the column header.
Thanks for pointing out. It doesn't solve my problem yet.

To circumvent, until now, I add tasks a few days before they are due and just begin the task by the due date.....

Hopefully anybody can pick my request since it would solve a real problem for me.

You can achieve that by setting the task's Start date to N days before its Due date.

Granted that's not a global option, but it gives you more flexibility because (for example) you can have major tasks appear sooner than minor ones.

See my bug 1329523 report: while this solves somewhat my problem it causes weird calendar views the way it is currently implemented. As mentioned there, I'd happily cancel this request if the other bug 1329523 were implemented.

PS: Thanks for providing Lightning! I appreciate your work and effort!
I'm slightly confused what is left in this bug after the discussion. Do you think you could provide new steps to reproduce with actual and expected results after taking into account the linked bugs?

Unfortunately, my other feature request bug 1329523 was not accepted. Hence, the current feature request:

In today pane, I'd appreciate if tasks were showing up a specified number of days ahead of their start-date. Preferably, this number of days can be specified in the properties of each calendar individually.

Reason for this feature request: if I "prepare" tasks with a start-date that is, for example, 7 days prior to the effective start-date (such that I can "prepare") my calendar-week-view becomes overloaded due to these "prepared" tasks (which was addressed in the rejected bug 1329523).

Thanks for the update. I cannot promise when this will be looked into, but I can imagine having a setting that would show tasks in the today/tomorrow/soon section.
