1330090 - Download service does not work on Leadership Page

The link to download pictures from the leadership page leads to a page where downloading does not work: https://mozilla.netx.net/app/#share/request/f1bf2ea5-f897-4867-830f-be0d7ab56d96

Is it possible to look at what the problem might be?

This does not work for Mitchell's picture. It may be the case of other execs' pictures - I did not check but it's worth having a look too.

I can confirm the same issue with the other profile images. Craig, any idea who has access to https://mozilla.netx.net to help fix this?

Michael Ham has access to the DAM and initially uploaded the files. I recall it took some effort to make them publicly accessible but I don't know what combination of settings finally worked. I suspect something got changed somewhere and we might just have to change it back. NIing Michael. 

It's also possible netx made some feature changes on their end and we can no longer make files publicly accessible at all, in which case we need to find reliable alternative hosting for these images. That might be worth doing anyway.

NetX has changed the way access is granted to public folders – breaking our links to the leadership portraits. I am also unable to access the original assets from NetX – so they may have been inadvertently
deleted.

I can either upload all the portraits again and create new publicly accessible links from NetX. Or, we could find a more stable CDN for delivering these assets. I'd suggest a dedicated CDN if one is available to us – NetX is designed more for internal teams to share assets.

Happy to upload original assets once we have a solution we like.

Ty - Alex Costello said you were the person to talk to about the NetX relationship and the issues were facing here with DAM. Please take a look a MHam's comment 3 w. regard to the change in the way access is granted to public folders.

Hi Eric,

The real issue/problem actually isnt with the DAM, but the method being used to share files publicly from the DAM. The generated URL thats currently used is only meant for sharing a file (or collection of files) temporarily. 

To combat that problem, we have https://assets.mozilla.org where we can offer any assets stored in the DAM safely to the public. 

So what I can do is add all leadership photos to assets.mozilla.org which you can then link to without this issue happening again.
