User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0
Build ID: 20170125094131

Steps to reproduce:

Environment: Windows server R2 Essentials
User PC: Windows 7 pro sp1
Firefox updated to v51, then the browser tabs crashes independent of being admin or normal user. The firefox window remains open and reports the crashed tabs. I can still go to settings etc but can't browse to any website. I installed v49 for the time being, which runs without problems.

Actual results:

Tabs Crash. I reinstalled firefox, removed firefox again, removed program folder, appdata folders but that didn't help. Logged in as different user, that didn't help either.

Expected results:

Not crash tabs. Work like it was like in v49.
I just realized: the above user agent info is of a different PC with no issues with v51. Just FYI. See the troubleshooting.txt file for the troubleshooting info generated by Firefox of the problem PC.

Thanks!

Ty for the report. Do you have some crash reports in the page about:crashes? If yes, could you copy some crash links (bp-...) in the bug report.

Are you crashing?
1) in safe mode:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

2) with a fresh profile:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

When I browse to about:crashes it says: No crash reports have been submitted.
Today my client again called me that the browser tabs are crashing again. I've disabled updates when I was logged in as administrator as well as his login credentials but still it automatically updated. Is there a way to permanently disable updates until the issue is resolved?

Thanks!
Imqqmi
Version 51.0.1 was installed by the update btw. After reinstalling v49.0.2 I've now disabled the mozilla update background service. Hopefully it will not update until the issue is resolved.
I am having the same problem with 51.0.1 on Windows 7 Pro 64bit and seen it on one other computer the user of which has since uninstalled firefox and installed chrome so I can not use it for comparison.

I have checked about:crashes but it is empty.

I have tested with both plugins / addons enabled as well as in safe more and both ways result in the tabs crashing.

In both cases 51.0.1 was installed via updates.

I have tried deleting the profile and starting from scratch but tags still crash

I have uninstalled and reinstall but tags still crash

On the computer I still have access to, I have the following add-ons / plugins

Addons:
better privacy
noscript
ublock everywhere
https-everywhere
firefox hotfix (disabled)
pinnit (disabled)

Plugins:
openh264 codec
primetime content decryption module
shockwave flash
widevine content decryption module
google update
intel identity proection
intel web component updater
itunes application detector
photo gallery
picasa
vlc web plugin

A tabs crash happens if e10s is enabled on that profile. I don't think that a crash report is generated for that.

Please disable e10s from about:config by setting the "browser.tabs.remote.autostart" pref to false and restart the browser after which please retest the scenario. In this way the browser will crash, not only the tab and a crash report will be generated. This will help us in the triage process. If the browser will crash follow comment 2.
