Details

InfluxDB is a relatively fresh entry to the market. It provides all the features we're looking for - it's quite happy with highly dimensional time series, it has an advanced query language, and it doesn't assume samples will be taken at regular intervals.

It is, however, relatively storage-hungry. I believe the benefits provided by its featureset outweigh that inefficiency.

Panopticon will use InfluxDB as its time series database.
