Hi Rail, We have a request to enable the /whatsnew page when desktop Firefox 52.0 ships to release. The intent is to have the exact same /wantsnew content shown for Fx 50.0 (see bug 1312551 ), which is already visible at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/52.0/whatsnew/ In that request, there was the stated nuance of setting the URL to https://www.mozilla.org/%LOCALE%/firefox/50.0/whatsnew where %LOCALE% will be substituted by the updater. I wanted to be sure we captured that in this request. Please let me know if this request comes soon enough to make the 52 launch, as well as letting me know of any questions.

I've set up the WNP for 52.0 against the release-cdntest channel, our testing channel. I'm not sure if you want to get QA or someone to sign off on this prior to actual release channel. frios, erenaud: one question - which versions and platforms should we serve "52.0 with whatsnewpage" to vs the "52.0 release without whatsnewpage"? As it is right now on the test channel, everyone <52.0 will get served "52.0 with whatsnewpage"

I thought we agreed that we would not be using the whatsnew feature any more!? We have evidence that the whatsnew page is one of the things that drives user dissatisfaction because they notice updates and it interrupts their flow. I would like us to reconsider this.

Side question: who are you targeting? Because en-US users would get a sendto widget https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/52.0/whatsnew/ I (Italian build) would get a very confusing page https://www.mozilla.org/it/firefox/52.0/whatsnew/

Thanks all. There were specific locales, we should have specified earlier in this bug. Per email chain, this was sorted over email and we've turned off entirely for 52. Thanks.

(In reply to Fabio Rios [:frios] from comment #9) > Per email chain, this was sorted over email and we've turned off entirely > for 52. okay, so we can mark this bug as WONTFIX and not serve wnp to any 52.0 users?

That's acceptable considering the issues here, yes.
