firefox restarted with all gone to old firefox data folder

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.12; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 Build ID: 20170125094131 Steps to reproduce: I did nothing. Firefox closed by itself Actual results: I restarted and all add-ons are is gone and my toolbar bookmarks are no longer in the toolbar. There is a folder on my desktop with 128 MB with add-ons and a huge list of other items Expected results: What should have happened? No crash. How do I restore the whole thing?
Properly backup your profile folder and this new folder, then move the files of the new folder to overwrite your existing profile folder. You probably have already triggered the Refresh Firefox feature, i.e. https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Procedures-to-diagnose-and-fix/Reset-Firefox-preferences-to-troubleshoot-and-fix-problems/ta-p/1340.

Miraculously solved itself. Bookmarks and add-ons came back after I started my Mac up this morning. This didn't happen yesterday when I did several restarts. I still find it odd why this happened, just like that, out of the blue.
