Judging by the title, we explicitly did this in bug 1290467, but I've seen a few complaints about this (e.g. about the notification being triggered by GIFV videos), so maybe we want to rethink this? Certainly the notification is most useful for background playback, which doesn't make any sense for no-audio media.

Hi, Anthony, In present design, we show the media control for all kinds of video, according to the [1]. However, some users complaint about we show the control interface for GIFV video [2]. Could you provide any UX suggestion for us? Thanks! [1] https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1289095#c7 [2] http://i.imgur.com/u7Yo0Vy.gifv

It still makes some sense to let users know Firefox still consumes mobile data in the background.

Good point. Personally, I haven't got any strong feelings on this behaviour, just passing on what I've heard. If anything, I'd say that bug 1347648 is the more important one meriting immediate attention.

This is a tough one. But it doesn't seem like a high priority issue to me ATM, unless I'm missing something (which could also be possible). While not ideal (to Blake's point), we are still conveying an important message about data usage so I'm tempted to leave this as is for now. But since this isn't ideal, we should leave this open to continue thinking about and to address as a future polish bug.

Clear Ni, because now we'll still provide media control for non-audible media according to comment4.

I'm not sure if this bug is capturing the whole problem (or if I found the wrong bug): Firefox repeatedly keeps a notification open for media "active" .. even if the tab is long gone. Sometimes it's so annoying that I restart my phone to clear it (better workarounds would be appreciated, closing Firefox doesn't work and the notification can't be swiped away/dismissed).
For me this happens on every other site. If I end on a site that offers media (random news site, steam, anything) I will earn a "permanent" notification that I'll never be able to remove. In practice this means that I constantly have a notification for things I don't care about and that I can't even remember.
What can I do to help fix this?

Force-stopping Firefox should be enough as a workaround.
