Details
From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020401 BuildID: 2002040108 When the mousewheel is used in the file selection dialog, the file listing scrolls by however many lines are specified in the mousewheel preferences. With the default setting of 5, this is not a problem. However, when a user changes this to 10 (so his web pages scroll faster), the file list will then scroll 10 files at a time when using the wheel. Since the window only displays 7 files, the next 3 will be skipped, and appear to be missing until the user reveals them by adjusting the scrollbar. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go into mousewheel preferences, set it to scroll 10 or more lines at a time with no modifier key. 2. Select File|Open or Save As. Go to a directory with a sufficiently large number of files. 3. Using only the wheel, try to select the very next file in the list (the one just beyond the last "visible" file) Actual Results: If the mousewheel setting is sufficiently high, you will not be able to access certain files in a directory using only the wheel. Expected Results: All files should be accessible with only the wheel; the file listing should be prevented from scrolling more than one page at a time.

This makes sense. Just because you want to scroll pages by large chunks, that should not make the file dialog scroll that much. completely two different things. confirming on linux trunk 2002040510

Just a friendly reminder to poke anyone who's forgotten about this bug. It even appears in the new file selection dialog I have on firefox 1.5b1. One would imagine the best setting for this would for a single scroll would scroll the entire page (7 entries for me currently), or the entire page-1 or 2 entries.
