I as a user want to be able to have the correct permissions when I express interest on the get involved pages 

A user group may be a solution to this, I would like to test this.
How is this dealing with existing users and other locales will their info be correctly migrated in to this group ?
Is this only being used for future contributors as they express interest in the get involved pages?

If at a future date we have pages showing various teams and roles e.g. Locale Leads, KB editors, Moderators etc will all those pages be correct or will the pages only pick up existing or future members.
After evaluating the feature, this is not the best solution for automation or managing notifications and content for new contributors.
