Details
STR: 1. Run Firefox on Linux 2. Load https://air.mozilla.org/town-hall-2017-june-town-hall-series-emerging-technologies/ 3. Play the video Note: I'm testing this while the video is live-streaming. Expected results: The video plays. Actual results: The video does not play. The devtools console shows: "[error][hlsjs: could not recover from error after maximum number of attempts, evt hlsError, data [object Object] ]" I tested with both latest Nightly, and Firefox ESR 52, and both have the same problem.

(In reply to Botond Ballo [:botond] from comment #0) > Note: I'm testing this while the video is live-streaming. I can confirm that the video plays fine now that it has been transcoded, so this is an issue specific to streaming.
Is the issue reproducible with nightly?

(In reply to Anthony Jones (:kentuckyfriedtakahe, :k17e) from comment #2) > Is the issue reproducible with nightly? It was at the time the video mentioned in comment 0 was streaming live. Testing a video that's currently streaming live right now [1], I don't see the error; I don't know whether that's because something changed on the Firefox side, or because the two videos are different in some way. I'm having this problem again right now, and it's preventing me from watching the monthly internal meeting.

It appears the problem was related to Privacy Badger blocking cookies from "mozillalives-i.akamaihd.net". Is there something we can do, either in the media stack, or in the air.m.o website code, to give a more intelligible error here?

This isn't a playback issue so I'm moving it to Air Mozilla.
Component: Audio/Video: Playback → Streaming
Product: Core → Air Mozilla

Happening again with https://air.mozilla.org/reflections-on-recent-events-in-the-us-and-mozilla/. This time, disabling Privacy Badger doesn't fix it.

In addition to disabling Privacy Badger, changing "Accept third-party cookies" in about:preferences from "Visited" to "Always" was required to get the video to play. It would be really good if this could be fixed on air.m.o's side.

This is happening to me on Windows 10 without any extensions on some of my machines.
Summary: Cannot play air.m.o video on Linux, console shows "hlsjs: could not recover from error after maximum number of attempts" → Cannot play air.m.o video, console shows "hlsjs: could not recover from error after maximum number of attempts"
