Details

today I created "Mozilla Installer" shortcut on the mac.
just like "Mozilla Messenger", "Mozilla Addressbook", etc.

"Mozilla Installer", when double clicked, will launch apprunner with the
-installer arg.

I've checked in the change to nsProfile.cpp so that now all three platforms,
"-installer" *should* kick off migration.

Right now, -installer is not working on the mac. (it works on linux and
windows.)

this bug is to track that (and to announce the "Mozilla Installer" file for QA)
Target Milestone: M11
Don, are you suppose to implement the "-installer" flag on Mac? If not, please
reassign to the right engineer. We need this working by beta.

I've been checking in changes to get this working on the mac.
I'm getting closer to getting it to work.
since I'm right in the middle of working on it, re-assign to me.

fixed.

now "Mozilla Installer" works on the Mac.

there are still problems. one, which I think is well known and logged, is
starting for the first time on the mac causes it to crash (when you have no
mozilla registry.)

running "Mozilla Installer" suffers the same fate.

but, when you start again, you will find your 4.x profile migrated.

now that we can migrated, I'm sure there are other migrate bugs lurking.

I'm going to log those, and try to get to them soon.
Using mac seamonkey build 1999-09-22-09-m11 build, I was able to successfully
migrate my preferences. Note: I have to press and hold down the OK button for a
few moment before the progress dialog came up.
