From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.9+)
Gecko/20020416
BuildID:

The message is:
"The image “http://www.davidbaileymx.com/menu1a/menu2_04.gif” cannot be
displayed, because it contains errors." from page
http://www.davidbaileymx.com/pages/news.cfm.

When the page is viewed with previous versions of Mozilla it appeared OK and
also with IE6.

I'm 99% sure that the author created the images with Photoshop on a Mac.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to www.davidbaileymx.com/pages/news.cfm
2. Right click on a broken image icon and bring up properties
3. Click link indicating source of image
This is one the of the images that Mozilla reports as "it contains errors".
worksforme, linux build 2002-04-15-21
WFM, 2002041603, WinXP
The page shows up OK now in Moz, but Netscape 6.2 is having issues (Which
didn't start to have problems until I d/l the latest Moz.) The images show the
page (http://www.davidbaileymx.com/pages/gallery.cfm) in various browsers.
These reports are starting to multiply..
There are now bug 132763, bug 137379, bug 137474 and bug 137484

this is due to biesi's checkin for bug 9796
Assignee: pavlov → cbiesinger

After reading bug 137379 , I changed the "Compare the page in the cache to the
page on the network:" setting from "Every time I view the page" to "When the
page is out of date". Since doing so, this error stopped occuring. RC1
(2002041711) on Win2k.

Why would the cache setting make a difference?
I guess the images in the cache are corrupted some way. I still have my broken
cache saved if someone cares.

Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Has anybody actually verified that the bug 9706 checkin caused this?
worksforme on linux... maybe a windows only problem

marten, NS6 is something completely different. don't complain about it here.
ok, all duplicates were reported with win2k.

is anybody seeing this on another operating system? I don't have w2k available.
The only reason I mentioned NS6, it (NS) has been affected by my loading
Mozilla. Every time I d/l the latest build, NS6 acts as if it is being run
for the first time. I wasn't sure if Mozilla and NS share any components,
dlls, settings, cache files, cookies or configuration files.

As my comment in #4 stated, NS 6 didn't have problems for me, until I d/l
the latest version of Mozilla. I assumed that they are "connected" (for
lack of a better term) in some way.

Marten
better reproducable with this image, also on linux:

libpr0n? you haxors and your goofy library antics
I have WinXP Pro and also see this bug.

No longer blocks: 139430
ok... that assertion is unrelated
OK, what seems to happen when loading the image I mentioned is this:
The image is not loaded completely, according to the progressmeter.
If I then hit enter again in the location bar, the mentioned error message is
displayed, I suppose because the cache contains invalid data and this data gets
reused.

stuart: I can't imagine that my checkin caused this, since I only changed the
message from the filename to some descriptive text.
the "error" is due to imagelib canceling the document's channel when it finds it
in the image cache. this "error" that should be ignored and used to be. It has
been this way since I first landed the new imagelib.
I suspect this is a dup of bug 121084
(in which case it would not be caused by my checkin for bug 9796)
Yesterday I came home and images stopped showing. I removed and reinstalled
latest build. Didnt work. I had to reboot.

Same thing today, except not all images are not showing and my mozilla home page
doesnt display.

I have a muiltiproc win2k server sp2+security fixes. I use the terminal services
all day to use mozilla for email and browsing. I am now running 2002042403
I logged out and logged back in and the images work again.
