Not a bug but a feature request.

I might have two listings for "John Smith" in my address book and would like to differentiate them, perhaps like this: 'John Smith [home]' vs. 'John Smith [office], But I don't want the '[home]' or '[office]' to be part of the human name in the 'To' field when I go to write a message.

We should be able to have a "listing" form of a name that is different from the name that appears in the 'To' field.

Perhaps this is possible already and I just don't know how.

Best regards,

Doug
You should combine the details into the same address book card, if it's the same person.

If you have two different John Smith, there are various fields you could use for that purpose, like "Nickname" or "Organisation", which you can select as displayable columns.

Does that not do the trick for you?

Hi, Jorge,

I need to look into the combining onto one address book "card" if it is the same person.

But yes, there are times it is two different John Smiths.

It sounds like using one of the other fields to provide the "differentiation" would work fine. But I don't know how to make other fields display in the Contacts pane of the Write app.

Ah, I see how to make "Email" and "Address Book display. Having "Email" display is helpful. But how can I make other fields display?

Thanks so much for the help.

Best regards,

Doug
Sadly in the contacts sidebar of the compose window you cannot make the other fields visible.
Hi, Jorg,

Ah.

As my father used to say, "If we had some ham we could have ham and eggs, if we had some eggs.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Doug
