When typing a tweet into twitter.com the text being typed blinks constantly while typing and then sometimes it disappears.

STR:

1) Go to https://twitter.com 
2) Login
3) Click tweet button (this may disappear which is a bug in itself)
4) Type in the text area a tweet and marvel at the blinking that occurs.

Doesn't seem to happen for me. Have you tried a fresh profile? Could you post a screen capture to show what you're seeing?

This is really weird... In a fresh profile I can't reproduce but when I disable all my addons and restart it is still creating the issue. I am also seeing weird rendering issues in IRCCloud where I mouse over items and the text disappears

Looking at your prefs, might it be related to layout.display-list.retain: true? Try resetting that...
Resetting that and restarting the browser has fixed this for me. The text is no longer flashing
OK, sounds like this is a Web Painting issue then, rather than Text. Moving...

Attached patch bug1415672 — — Splinter Review 
We only want to set mInInvalidSubtree when we're marking the current frame as invalid (and we've already passed the point that should do it for us).

We don't want to set it when calling from RetainedDisplayListBuilder (when we detect caret changes), since that'll make everything invalid, but we haven't setup the rebuild region for that.

I have re-tested this issue with the latest Nightly 59.0a1 from 2017-11-13 on Windows 10 x64, Windows 7 x86, Ubuntu 16.04 x64 and Mac OS X 10.13 and I`m no longer able to reproduce it.
