We should be able to just revert the patch from bug 1328605 and simplify code a tiny bit. Based on this search: https://dxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/search?q=regexp%3Atype..content-&=mozilla-central we might need to update the 2 test files dom/security/test/general/test_bug1277803.xul and dom/xul/test/file_bug1271240.xul for completeness.
