Sync will only work rarely, at most every couple of days, and not on command when I press the "Sync" option. This is very frustrating. What can I do?

Build ID: 20180103231032

Steps to reproduce:

Sync will only work rarely, at most every couple of days, and not on command when I press the "Sync" option. This is very frustrating. What can I do?

Actual results:

Sync will only work rarely, at most every couple of days, and not on command when I press the "Sync" option.

Expected results:

It should have Synced. Instead, it still says the last sync was yesterday at 1:08 am.
User Agent  Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Firefox: 57.0.4, Build ID  20180103231032

I have tested this issue on latest Firefox 57.0.4 release and latest Nightly (59.0a1) build but I haven't managed to reproduce it.
I have clicked the "Sync" button ~15 times during the day and the browser was correctly synced every time.

Lauryn, can you please retest this issue using a new Firefox profile to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause (https://goo.gl/AJxpqu)?
Also, there are any errors in browser console (Cmd+Shift+J) after reproducing the issue?

Sorry you're running into this, Lauryn. Is this on Firefox Desktop, Android, or iOS? If you're on Desktop, could you also please check if you have any error logs in about:sync-log? (Instructions are at https://wiki.mozilla.org/CloudServices/Sync/File_a_desktop_bug).

I wonder if this is actually bug 1425152?
Aha. In finding the error log, I've found the source of the error. I'm so completely out of hard drive space that it can't even back up the sync to the disc unless I restart Firefox and that clears up enough space in the process to sync. Good grief. This lack of space due to the unexpectedly reduced hard drive space on the solid state drive when I got this Mac two years ago to replace a SIX year old Macbook and hadn't even needed more hard drive space on is obviously in need of urgent replacement. Arg! Thank you all for looking into this!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm on iOS X Yosemite, 10.10.5.  It seems to only sync when I quit and restart Forefox, and the sync button only spins a couple of times otherwise when pressed and fails to sync.
My main errors in Cmd+Shift+J are mainly repetitions of:
Unix error 28 during operation open on file /Users/Halli/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/9n8yy3ng.default/weave/changes/history.json.tmp (No space left on device)  DeferredTask.jsm:319
and
Could not write session state file  Object { operation: "open", path: "/Users/Halli/Library/Application Su…", unixErrno: 28, stack: "", fileName: "(unknown module)", lineNumber: undefined }   SessionFile.jsm:368
