Steps to reproduce:

  1. Log into a system running Ubuntu 18.04 using XFCE 4.12.
  2. Create a LibreOffice window and a Nightly 66.0a1 window.
  3. Customize Nightly and un-check Title Bar at the bottom.
  4. Customize Nightly and check Title Bar at the bottom.

Expected:

The window controls (Minimize, Maximize, Close) are always the same for every application.

Actual:

  1. LibreOffice and Nightly have the same window controls.

  2. LibreOffice and Nightly have different window controls because Nightly changed.

See the attached screen shot showing the results after step 4).

Blocks: gtktitlebar

When in Full Screen mode the window controls are different again. Closer to the native form, but distinctly different.

See the full screen screen shot.

When in Full Screen mode the window controls are different again.

That's Bug 1485291.

Summary: Titlebar rendering on Ubuntu with XFCE uses the wrong window controls → [XFCE] Titlebar rendering on Ubuntu with XFCE uses the wrong window controls

I would like to add that this also impacts Elementary OS; when the title bar is hidden, both the close and maximize buttons appear to the left of the tab bar when the maximize button is supposed to be rightmost on the title bar.

Now that bug 1485291 has been fixed the Firefox full screen and non-full screen window controls are the same. But they don't match the other windows.

It might be appropriate to put this in a separate bug report. I don't know whether it would be easy to fix Elementary OS and XFCE at the same time.
