STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) Open a folder, any folder.
2) Delete a message.
3) Compact the folder with "Compact Folders" or "Compact This Folder"
4) All remaining messages disappear from the message list pane.

EXPECTED:
All remaining undeleted messages should remain visible.
JavaScript console shows this error after following the steps above:

This worksforme on commercial build 2002-07-22 on win98. I delete a message and
compact folder repaints the thread pane with the existing messages in that folder.
Can you try a recent build and report back?
