From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020722 BuildID: 2002072203 I have two personal certs one for each of the email addresses I use. When trying to select one of these for use with a mail account mozilla crashes. I had the same problem on mac os x as well as windows 2000 today. I am pretty sure the build number is the same but not 100%. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Mail 2. Open Mail & Newsgroups 3. Click on Edit -> Mail & Newsgroups Settings 4. Click on Security of one of the mail accounts. 5. Click Select under digital signing. Actual Results: Mozilla crashes/closes. Expected Results: Let me choose which certificate to use.

I duplicated this issue with the latest builds of mozilla. Build 2002073108 on win2k and build 20020731xx on mac os x I'm not in front of the os x machine so im not sure which build I downloaded last night.

I hope this is the information you are looking for. If not, let me know. This is a copy from the win2k machine. Let me know either way and I will try to get one for mac os x later. You can view the information in the file at http://mchost.kitchman.net/details.txt Bryan I uploaded the file to my own server becuase I was getting the following error when trying to attach the file. The file you are trying to attach is 303 kilobytes (KB) in size. Non-patch attachments cannot be more than 300KB. If your attachment is an image, try converting it to a compressable format like JPG or PNG, or put it elsewhere on the web and link to it from the bug's URL field or in a comment on the bug.

Here is the mac os x crash log. This was using build 2002072203. I experience the same in the newer builds, so I imagine the log woul dbe very similar. Let me know if you want the log from a newer build. I hope this helps you since this was recorded by Apple's crash reporter.

I found some more information. I deleted one of the two certificates I had. I then imported a new certificate. Mozilla no longer crashes when I click on "Select" in the mail and newsgroups security settings. However, only the first cert is available as an option.
Adding qawanted; someone with Personal Certificates needs to triage this.

I suspect that you have a corrupted cert database. Reporter, can you delete your Certificates7 and Key Database3 files in your profile directory and reimport your personal certs? "However, only the first cert is available as an option." A certificate may not be presented as a choice for client auth if it doesn't make sense to present it, or it may just be a corrupted cert database.

That fixed that issue on the win2k machine. I will test it on mac os x when I have a chance. However, this whole issue started when I tried to install the cert for the first time from thawte. http://thawte.com/getinfo/products/personal/contents.html On mac os x and win2k, their installer works on IE/Outlook, but not for mozilla/netscape.
