It would be very useful to be able to add another set of mbox folders through
the account manager. This would allow our mobile users to have:

1. IMAP account on the IMAP server
2. Local Folders on their local machines hard drive (for offline usage, to store
unsent messages in the case of the laptop)
3. Another set of mbox style folders stored on a network share where the user
can store large e-mails that eats up quota on the IMAP server.

This RFE is to be able to create #3 in the list above from Mozilla. Adding this
set of folders is possible now by editing the prefs.js file manually, however
the RFE is to allow the user to this this himself through the UI of the account
manager.
remove "REF" from summary. Reporter, please help kill this redundant
keyword.
Summary: RFE: Ability to add local folder collection → Ability to add local folder collection
I agree that it would be very nice to be able to add another set of local
folders in a different location.

I have huge amounts of old email. I don't necessarily want to store all my old
archived email on the same disk, or even the same network server, as my current
email.

I frequently use the ability to search old messages to find something I said a
year ago. So the suggestion of: "just compress those archived emails and store
them somewhere else" doesn't work for me.

I'll probably use the suggestion in comment 1 about editing prefs.js, but it's
irksome and inconsistent with the rest of the UI that you can't add this kind of
"account" in the mail account prefs.

This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.

If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way.
If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar).
If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state.

I think it is possible to create a dummy account like this. It won't be 100% the same as Local folders, but would allow the use case as requested.
Just create a new POP3 account give it any name you want and a dummy server name, set to never check for messages.
