Details

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to any web page with an image, for instance cnn.com
2. Drag an image to the desktop (creates an @http icon and properties shows a
web internet location document)
3. Drag the icon back to the browser

Actual results:
Page is blank

Expected results:
Image should open in browser

I am using OS X.2 (Jaguar) with build 2002-08-27-05
Confirming issue happens with OS X 10.1.4 too. Not a 10.2 only problem.
Depends on: 172044
Stranger and stranger... If double-clicked, the image loads in the browser as
expected (with gif/png/jpg extension), but if dragged into window, shows up with
.webloc extension and does not load.

Still, when double clicked, it is only loading the image from its original
location, showing that the image itself hasn't been downloaded. Shouldn't
dragging a nonlinked image to the desktop be the same as Right-Click -> Save
Image...?

But then, what to do with dragged linked images? Save the link or the image?
Ack, inconsistency.
This is a very common complaint about Chimera
