RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 93210

Details

I'm using version 1.1 on Mandrake 8.2.

After a while, the mail client loses the ability to retrieve e-mail from my
remote IMAP server.

After discussing with my IT guys, it seems the problem is zombie imapd processes
on the mail server. If I ssh to the mail server, do a "ps -fu <my_username> |
grep imapd", and kill all the imapd processes, everything becomes OK again. For
a while. And then the same problem recurs.

This problem does not occur if I use a different IMAP client.

I should mention I'm checking my mail on my laptop at home. I also have a
Mozilla mail client open on my desktop at work. That may be having some effect.
Reporter, we're not yet sending the QUIT command to the IMAP-server (bug 93210),
but that shouldn't normally hurt, since the server will notice that the
connection has been closed. But every server has a timeout value to detect
similar problems (quite common on the Internet). Check if your server has a
timeout, and try to lower it (2 minutes or so). If your imap-server stays around
forever, that's a bug in the configuration (a denial-of-service attack is then
really easy).

The presence on the second client shouldn't hurt (each client gets his own copy
of the imapd process), unless your administrator puts a limit to that. But that
has nothing to do with Mozilla.
