I noticed that the sidebar does not reduce the window size to accommodate the screen width to make the sidebar visible like the older releases. This causes the user to manually resize the window in order to view his sidebar and its contents and then resize it back to fill the full screen, which the older iMac screens are no that big in the first place and need Navigator to look full screen in order to reduce the amount of horizontal scrolling required.

The HIG specifically says: "If the user makes a window so big that there's no room on either side, the drawer opens off the screen." (http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Essentials/AquaHIGuidelines/AHIGWindows/Drawers.html) The Aqua windows positioning rule is that when a new window is created, the app should make sure that the window doesn't go under the Dock etc., but if the user moves and resizes the window, then the app should not touch the position and size even if the user does something that leads to a situation that would not be recommended as a default (eg. resizes the Dock to cover part of a window or opens a drawer that doesn't fit on screen).
