Details

i found what makes the bookmarks slow for me.

when you bookmark a page with the title page in french, or another language
using high ascii charachers such as יאפ, the bookmark file stores junk
unreadable if you share it with netscape 4.7 with a ln -s from within the
netscape folder, or may be it's just from an older mozilla version. anyway the
screwed bookmark appears as "?????????????????????????????????????????" in the
bookmarks themselves, and as \ascii codes junk from vi. i removed manually all
the junk from the bookmarks file. now they are fast !! before, some subfolder
that had several of those screwed bookmarks took up to 10 seconds to open. now
it takes less than 1 second.

i couldn't reproduce it by rebookmarking websites that were screwed, but, if you
still use a bookmark file full of junk with 1000-chars long bookmark titles,
that will still slow down your bookmarks.
Ia,

What do you omena by "Share it with netscape 4.7"? Are you exporting the bookmarks?

Is this similar to bug 109519 or bug 109796?
