User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.4) Gecko/20011022 Netscape6/6.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.4) Gecko/20011022 Netscape6/6.2

javascript:compile("name")
does nothing.

On the web page, above, click on any of the phone manufacturer names listed in
"Step #2" about halfway down the page.

No resulting actions.

(I am really a bit clueless as to java, in general, so much of my report is
given by taking general aim at what I think is the problem. All I really know is
the action I take and the (lack) of results.)

Is this problem with Mozilla's java implementation? Or the Mac's java package?
The OS?

Can it be fixed in Moz? Or is it forever left to Apple to implement java properly?

Thanks,
Dave Carpenter

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load page
2. Paste ring tone text string into the text field in Step #1'
(here's a sample ring tone: 3 E-1 R1 G-1 R1 D#1 R1 D2 R1 R1 G-1 A#-1 R1 B-2 R2
G-1 R1
3. Click on a phone manufacturer link (ie, Nokia, or Motorola)
4. See lack of results
Actual Results:
nada

Expected Results:
read the text placed in the text field, interpret it, and paste the new text
back into the field.

none
Please do not report Netscape 6.2 bugs here.

However, confirming using Phoenix 20021207 (CVS) on Linux, JavaScript console:

Error: txtComments is not defined
Source File: http://cellphones.about.com/library/bl_rc.htm
Line: 300

Code shows:

[...]
function compile(rcarg) {
	var rcrt = txtComments.value + ","
[...]

which is incorrect.

Propose to move to Tech Evangelism.
